Happy Valentine's Day! (Special deal alert and mega-cuteness!)

Dear Friends,

If you've been thinking about having me as your wedding photographer, RUN don't walk over to the Wedding Channel Deals site today. In honor of Valentine's Day, I'm offering a very special deal that I have never done before! I'm very excited because it allows wedding couples who are considering me for their big day to work with me and see how they like it... and for a 50% discount too.

Now THAT'S amore...!

I just love Valentine's Day. Always have. What's better than Love in your life? Seriously! And not just romantic, passionate love (though that is definitely yummy)... but how about the love of your family? Your mom, your dad, your sib? Your best friends?

And don't forget about your furry friends!

I photographed this adorable little scruff-ball a few weeks ago. Igloo was saved from a high-kill shelter in the area by my friend Lisa, who is like the Dog Whisperer in female form... she just understands them so well. She and her human family are so kind to open their home to homeless dogs here in the KC area, giving them a temporary place to stay and be loved until they find their forever home.

Well, I took one look at Igloo and I fell in love with his white fur and pink nose. And he SMILES! I'd never seen a dog with a pink nose and so I was determined to have him be my "Poster Pet" for this month, and an ambassador for all the homeless pets in our area who are looking for someone to love. While I wouldn't recommend suprising someone with a pet for Valentine's Day (because pets do take a lot of commitment - trust me, I've got two cats and two dogs - all from shelters - so I have firsthand experience with this), I would say that if you've discussed it and are wanting to increase the Love in your life x a zillion... check out your local animal shelters for some wonderful friends.

Welcome Back!

Hey everyone!

Hope you had wonderful, happy holidays! I have to apologize for being SO behind on my posting - I've got several sessions I want to get up here for you to enjoy, and I still haven't posted the Brazil images either! But it's all good... gives us something to look forward to! *wink*

So were you good little boys and girls this year? Hope Santa left you something good under the tree... I am totally stoked because I found an iPad in my stocking this year!!! WOOT! I am using this cool little toy for all my presentations now, from corporate to weddings to families. It is so great not to have to lug around albums and prints to my consultations! And my clients adore it - it's just so fun to play with, and they get to see way more of my portfolio now :)

January is already filling up with several shoots, so if you are considering booking, please don't hesitate to call today! Don't forget that Valentine's Day is around the corner, so if you are thinking of making a sassy, sexy boudoir album for that special someone, you need to book ASAP! And in other news, I'm also going to launch that special senior promotion I hinted at in the fall this month... keep watching this space for more details to come...

Hope your new year is off to a great start! I am so excited at all the wonderful images just waiting to be created and shared with you this year. Onward and upward!

Sneak Peek: Boudoir Session!

There are times, as a photographer, that discretion is the better part of valor. Boudoir sessions are definitely one of those times. I adore doing these shoots, because they are so fun. Initially many of my clients are intimidated, but once we get clicking they loosen up and really let themselves shine! It is so amazing to see women become relaxed and comfortable in their skin and revel in their own beauty. How often do we do that, ladies? Not nearly enough! :)

But the problem for me is, once I get the images back, I want to show them to EVERYONE and brag about how gorgeous they look! Of course, I CAN'T!!! However, with my client's permission, I often am able to share some select images...

This session was a treat because we ran the gamut of distinct looks, from very classic black-and-white to a super-saturated, artistic use of color. Yes, that is the same woman in the same session!

Awesome boudoir shoot today...

Boudoir photography ROCKS! So fun and creative. I just love bringing out the attitude and unique beauty in every single woman I photograph. And it's never the same, because each person has their own definition of what is sexy, and every woman has different features that she loves and wants to feature! For one, it might be her sparkling eyes. For another, it might be her gorgeous legs. Whatever it is, I think it's so cool to see a woman gain confidence in herself and in front of the camera!

So this boudoir session rocked today, and I've just gotten several new sets in the studio, and will be posting some previews here soon as well as some sneak peeks.

Don't forget to check out Striking Photography's portfolio of other work here at my website.

Rock on, ladies! :)

Sneak Peek: Boudoir Session!

This gorgeous woman wanted a special and personal wedding anniversary present. Her and her hubby are celebrating one year of wedded bliss together - congratulations! I think he is going to be very happy with these beautiful photos... ;-) She works at a profession where you don't get to dress up much, so this photo shoot was a chance to doll it up and work what she got! And boy, she has got IT - see for yourself!!

The outfits were SO cool, playful and sassy just like the model. The shoot was fun, we were both laughing and she was great at flirting with the camera! I really had a great time photographing her.

Sneak Peak! Boudoir Session

This red-hot redhead wanted a photo session to give to her fiance as a wedding gift. She is getting married soon... sorry, fellas! "If ya like it then you shoulda put a ring on it..." -- and he is! Smart guy :-)

This was a really engaging session for me, as this was my first time shooting yoga. Yoga photography is an amazing genre that is developing quickly as this ancient practice gains more and more popularity in the United States. I found that yoga revealed to me the harmony and strength present within the human form in an entirely novel way, which was a real treat as a photographer. Beautiful!

Why a Boudoir Session Makes a Great Valentine's Gift

It's something only you can give him.

It's something he'll genuinely enjoy.

It's waaay more creative than the usual silk boxer shorts.

It lasts longer than a box of chocolates.

It's FUN!

And finally, because doing a boudoir session is not just for him, it's also for YOU. It's an act of daring and, more importantly, SELF-CONFIDENCE to revel in this side of your personality!

Remember ladies - a boudoir photography session is all about YOU. You can be as revealing, playful, sexy, coy, romantic and glamorous as you wanna be. As your photographer, I work with you to create a look that is uniquely yours.

Supermodels need not apply ;-)

Ooh la la! Boudoir Session!

Here's the tiniest sneak peek from a recent boudoir session I did... I had SO much fun shooting this, as the woman in the pictures was so gorgeous (OMG hair to die for) and sweet! I just love helping women liberate and celebrate their own beauty!

Boudoir photography (sometimes referred to as glamour photography) has a long history, beginning with the classic pin-up photos of Betty Grable in the 1940's and Marilyn Monroe in the 50's. Boudoir photography relies on the power of suggestion and conveys mystery, romance, playfulness and celebration, and anyone can do it! It makes a wonderful, personal wedding gift from a bride to a groom, a Valentine's gift, or simply as a gift to yourself, to celebrate your own amazing allure.

Can't reveal any more from this session, as it is for her boyfriend's eyes only... but if you would like to book your own session, contact me via Striking Photography's website today!

Session Sneak-Peek!

And who is this amazing woman? She is an incredible opera singer! She was fantastic in the world premier of the opera 'John Brown' at the Lyric in downtown KC. She just got back from an intensive summer stint and wanted some new headshots.

Bravo!!!
